The original song was written and recorded in the key of A. Those of us who have used the song with preschoolers through K have found that the key of A is sometimes too low for that age range and began using the key of C which made it easier for the children to sing and stay in tune, plus it lends itself well to using tone bells.
The key of A works with kids over age 5 or 6. Feel free to download items in both keys and try it out yourself!
